The group hosted Prof. Amnon Ben-Tor who lectured about the different opinions and discussions about the identity of the destructors of Canaanite Hazor.
 
The group will have a field trip to the Judean Desert guided by group member Uri Davidovich. The tour will focus on the area between Nachal Arugot and Nachal Ze'elim in the Judean Desert plateau. We are expected to encounter several phenomenons, unique to that area. Through the tour we would ask to emphasize the contribution of spatial research to issues of distruction on the one hand, and existential alternatives on the other hand, in an extremely arid area on the frontier of the settled...
 
On the occasion of the publication of group member Prof. Ronnie Ellenblum's new book, a launching event was held at Yad Ben Zvi in Jerusalem.
 
The group went on a tour titled: “The Sacred Place: The Role of Memory, Design and Ritual in Establishing Sanctity”, guided by group member Michal Bitton. The tour included 14 stations around the garden of Gethsemane and its surroundings.
 
The group hosted Prof. Michael McCormik of Harvard University who lectured about Twenty First Century approaches to investigating the history and archaeology of the First Millennium CE.
 
The 'Archaeologies of Memory" winter conference – which took place December 9th to December 15th, 2012 in Jerusalem – was an exciting interdisciplinary exploration titled ‘Analyzing Collapse: Destruction, Collapse and Memory.’ The Academy featured sessions and talks by leading scholars in fields such as archaeology, geography, climatology, anthropology, history and classical studies along with field-trips to some of the most important ‘collapse’ sites in Israel, such as...
 
Screening of the film "Farewell My Concubine" (China, 1993, 171 min.) with a short introduction by Prof. Gideon Shelach. The screening of Farewell My Concubine, and the short talk which introduced it, were part of an international conference called "Analyzing Collapse: Destruction, Abandonment, Memory" which will be held on December 9-15 in the Institute of Advanced Studies and the Scholion Center of the Hebrew University (for more details see www.collapse.huji.ac.il).
 
"Archaeoligies of Memory" research group went on a seminar tour to the excavation sites of Tel Hazor and Omrit, guided by group member Dr. Sharon Zuckerman and Dr. Motti Aviam.
 
Group members Dr. Sharon Zuckerman and Dr. Nili Wazana lectured about the conquest of Canaan in archaeology and in the Bible.
