Mandel Scholars
The Mandel Scholars program offers two teaching and research fellowships per annum to young, outstanding PhDs in the Humanities. The positions are filled by researchers from Israel and abroad who have recently received their doctorates after having demonstrated exceptional abilities, conducted distinctive and extraordinary research in fields relating to Jewish Studies, and whose research interests and expertise can enrich the academic and cultural discourse.
Each year the call for applicants is published toward the beginning of the academic year. Applicants are then sifted by a careful selection process. Successful candidates from Israel and abroad wil be invited to lecture at the center's main annual event - Scholion Lectures Marathon. The two deemed most outstanding are invited to further their research over a triennial term. They are welcomed at Scholion where conditions conducive to research at the highest level are maintained. The Mandel Fellows execute a dual charge as lecturers at the Hebrew University and as researchers at Scholion, and receive a munificent grant which allows them to devote the majority of their time to research.
